Daniel, aged twenty, discovers a spiritual calling whilst in a youth detention centre, but the crime he committed prevents him from entering the seminary. Sent to a small town to work in a joinery workshop, he poses as a priest and takes charge of the parish. The arrival of the young, charismatic preacher then turns this small, conservative community on its head.

“Ambitious and endearing, this fine film by the Polish director Jan Komasa showcases the actor Bartosz Bielenia as a thug touched by grace who poses as a priest. He is extraordinary – with his striking face, his stiff, wild presence, and his radiant physique.” Camille Nevers, Libération

Screening presented by Mathieu Lericq, researcher and specialist in Polish cinema.
