Architect DPLG, Joanne Vajda holds a doctorate from EHESS and is a senior lecturer at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Paris Malaquais – PSL, as well as a researcher at the AHTTEP laboratory. She was a founding partner of the agency Thomas Vajda Architects from 2009 to 2015 and has also taught at various architecture schools (ENSA Paris La Villette and ENSA Bretagne). Her research focuses on the transformation of European urban space from the mid-19th century to the present, in connection with major events and tourism mobility. She is the author of Paris Ville Lumière. Une transformation urbaine et sociale. 1855-1937 [Paris City of Light: An Urban and Social Transformation, 1855–1937] (L’Harmattan, 2015) and Le Grand Paris à l’heure des JOP 2024: visions architecturales et urbaines entre patrimoine et tourisme [Greater Paris at the Time of the 2024 Olympic Games: Architectural and Urban Visions between Heritage and Tourism] with Cristiana Mazzoni (Éditions de La Commune, 2023). Her Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (HDR) addresses heritage and tourism in light of 21st-century transformations.
