Jacek Dukaj, born in 1974, is the most prominent Polish science fiction author of his generation. Regarded as the successor to Stanisław Lem, his work has been translated into several languages and has received numerous awards, including the European Union Prize for Literature and the Kościelski Prize for Ice, which has just been published in the United Kingdom. In May 2026, he will publish D’autres chants (translated into French by Charles Zaremba). Blending science fiction, fantasy and alternate history, this novel is set in an alternative Europe, in an era reminiscent of Late Antiquity, where the laws governing reality are faithful to the Aristotelians’ conjectures on Form and Matter.
