Born in 1981 in Poznań, Jan Komasa studied film directing at the renowned Łódź Film School. His first short film, Nice to See You, was in competition at the Cannes Film Festival’s CinéFondation section, where it won three awards. His first feature film, Suicide Room, was selected for the Panorama section at the Berlinale. He then directed the war film Warsaw 44. Communion, a huge hit in Poland, was nominated for an Oscar and a César for Best Foreign Film.
