Kornel Janczy, born in 1984, produces a body of work that spans a variety of media, ranging from painting and drawing to installation and site-specific works. Above all, his artistic practice focuses on conceptions of space and the relationships between nature, science, economics and politics.
A graduate of the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, he holds a PhD from the Faculty of Arts at the University of the State Commission for Education in Kraków, where he currently teaches.
He has also been an artist-in-residence at the ISCP in New York, the Villa Lena Foundation (Italy), Hangar (Portugal) and NKD Dale (Norway).
His work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, notably at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, MOCAK (Museum of Contemporary Art in Kraków), the National Museum in Wrocław, the Wrocław Museum of Contemporary Art, the Silesian Museum in Katowice, the Centre for Contemporary Art at Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw, Oficine 800 in Venice, the Kunstverein CIAP in Hasselt, Onomatopee in Eindhoven and the Fondazione Antonio Ratti in Como.
