Maria Sławek is a violinist, lecturer, and researcher combining her concert career with academic, social, and artistic activities. She performs as a soloist in Poland and abroad, and teaches at the Academy of Music in Kraków and the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. She also runs a Jewish music history course within Postgraduate Polish-Jewish Studies at the Institute of Literary Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
Her artistic and research work is closely linked to Mieczysław Weinberg. She began her doctoral research on his violin and piano works in 2011 and released Weinberg – Sonatas for Violin and Piano with Piotr Różański in 2015. In 2020, she co-founded the Mieczysław Weinberg Institute with Ania Karpowicz. Since 2022, she has curated Dialogi. Her discography includes Rejoice (2019), TIKTIN (2024), and Different Trains (2024).
