Yan Tomaszewski is a Franco-Polish artist who works at the intersection of art and cinema. His work explores subjects as varied as the life of stones, the rights of rivers, cosmetic surgery, astrochemistry and psychoanalysis. The hybridised body is the common thread running through his projects. The forms he creates are part of a documentary process that combines field research, studio work, writing and film shoots. Trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Le Fresnoy and the ENS in Lyon, he has exhibited at venues including the MAC VAL in Vitry-sur-Seine, the Middelheim Museum in Antwerp, the MAK Center for Arts and Architecture in Los Angeles, and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. His films have been screened at festivals such as IDFA Amsterdam, FID Marseille, the Montreal International Film Festival on Art, Queer Lisboa and Doclisboa in Lisbon. He teaches at the École nationale d’architecture Paris-Val de Seine and was awarded the COAL Prize in 2024.
